food inc.
I found Food Inc. very interesting. it makes me think about where the food i am eating comes from and wonder about the different ingredients and what it all means. Our food system kind of sickens me; treating the animals so poorly. I don't like the idea of the animals being raised in huge shelters with no windows and no fresh air. Also, the fact that they still send out meat and other products that they know have E. coli bacteria which can kill people. I didn't realize big business owners had such an influence in our politics. The new things i have learned about how our food is produced and manufactured leads me to want to buy organic and local food that you know is more healthy and grown on an actual farm. i don't advocate these companies taking control of the lives of the illegal immigrants and forcing them to work in low income jobs because they know they will work for nearly nothing. these companies shouldn't be able to hire illegal immigrants and they should be punished for doing so. our dependence on oil is unbelievable and i think we should be working to find more inexpensive alternative energy methods. Our legal system also does nothing to work toward better, healthier food. They encourage the "factory farms" and do nothing about the salmonella and E.coli outbreaks. As an individual, I could buy local and organic food and possibly plant a garden. Food Inc. really opened my eyes to the food industry and how unnatural it all is.

Dearest Andrea, I greatly enjoy this post. I agree with what you said about our legal system doing nothing about our current food system. It really is ridiculous how many people worked for the food industry that are now politicians. kbye

ReplyDeleteI agree with your statements. It is sickening the way that farmers are forced to treat their animals. I don't much see the point in making them live that way. We might as well give them a happy life if they're just going to be used for meat. It also made me want to go and eat organic foods. They seem a lot safer now. You were more than likely correct that the legal system is doing basically nothing to help fix the problems in the food industry.
